Submissions are a must have if you need to be considered a top mixed martial arts fighter, far more so if you want to be a skilled trainer. Whether or not you are skilled in Jiu Jitsu or not, there are several great submission moves you can learn in just one afternoon to step up your game plan. These are just some of the many submissions you can make use of to enhance your fight game:
Anaconda Choke - Using this technique while in the gator roll form is pretty effective. From the sprawling positioning, you move towards a basic headlock. Place your arm under the neck and the individual's arm, lock in place with your opposing arm. Then drop your right shoulder and roll over.
Omoplata - While in guard take one leg under the fighter's armpit and start to turn into that leg, which will enable you to catch their arm without effort. Use force on the arm and pull it away from the back, injuring the shoulder of the contestant.
Heel Hook - Wrap both legs around the fighter and grasp onto the foot at the same time. Hold the foot into the armpit area, and begin to turn it which should in turn change the motion from a standard ankle lock to a heel hook.
Key Lock - Side mounting your opponent is a total must for this submission. Once you get that side mount, and get a hold of the wrist with the hand that's farthest away from your body. With the hand that is closest to your body reach under your arm and attach it to your own forearm area. Thrust their elbow up to finish.
Neck Crank - When you've achieved a side or full mount you may then change the position of your opponent's head with your arms. Essentially you would then be 'cranking ' the neck, and usually ending the fight relatively fast.
